Robert J. Flynn, Jr.

Robert J. Flynn, Jr., Esq. is a highly regarded, top-rated lawyer, author, and expert in real estate, land use, zoning, planning, civil litigation, municipal and estate law in the State of New York. Mr. Flynn received his JD from Vermont Law School in 1978 and was admitted to the practice of law in New York in 1979. After a brief period as a criminal defense lawyer, Mr. Flynn served in the Supreme Court of Suffolk County as a Confidential Law Secretary to two New York State Supreme Court Justices. In 1984, Mr. Flynn entered private practice in Huntington as a partner in the law firm of Flynn & Flynn. For the last twenty-seven years, he has practiced all aspects of the law with a concentration in real estate, land use, zoning, planning, civil litigation, municipal, and estate law.

Throughout his career, Mr. Flynn has argued appeals involving many different areas of the law. His successes include impressive wins in two leading land-use appellate cases in the State of New York: Matter of Tall Trees Construction Corp. v. Zoning Board of Appeals of the Town of Huntington; and Matter of Crystal Pond Homes, Inc. v. Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of Huntington Bay.

In addition to having established himself as an accomplished appellate attorney, Mr. Flynn is also a widely recognized expert in zoning issues in the State of New York. Mr. Flynn co-wrote the book, Zoning Board of Appeals Practice in the State of New York. The book was published by the New York State Bar Association in 1996 and is still regarded as a comprehensive reference book on the subject.

An active member of his own community, Mr. Flynn has served as an Associate Village Justice of the Village of Huntington Bay. He is past Chairman of the Environmental Committee of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. He is also a longstanding volunteer member of the Planning Board of the Village of Northport, where he and his wife, Patricia, have resided since 1982 and raised three children, Caroline, Stephen, and Meghan. In addition, he is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association where he serves on the appellate practice, municipal, and real estate law committees.
